This is the book I've been looking for forever. It's a fun and engaging story about a little boy named Nick whose favorite color just happens to be pink. His sister wishes that he'll get pink things in the mail, and all kinds of fun pink items start appearing in the mailman's bag -- a watermelon, a flamingo, a whole bunch of pigs, a pink elephant ... but their mom isn't happy about the chaos!

The glorious thing about this book is that there's absolutely no discussion about whether it's okay for Nick to like pink. He just does, and that's just fine. He has a pink stuffed bunny that he carries around everywhere, and in one scene he happens to be wearing a pink shirt, and in another he's wearing pink swim trunks. Nobody remarks on it whatsoever. It's completely normalized. This kind of thing is so incredibly rare in children's books, it's basically unheard of. I've looked for years and I've never seen another picture book where gender/sexuality issues exist but aren't treated as an Issue To Be Addressed. I love it!

All three of my kids were very interested in the story -- three-year-old boy/girl twins and seven-year-old boy -- so it absolutely has kid appeal and not just mom appeal.
